Tumblr, we meet again

This is a little disclaimer: I am back on Tumblr yet again. I keep coming back because it’s so easy to explore and as easy to use. I am a frequent pinner already, and although these two mediums are quite similar, but Tumblr is still not about selling products, just about posting and re-posting inspiring content. This also means that there is a lot of crap. A lot. But I choose who I follow wisely, and I have a zero tolerance for sexist content (which is also overflowing, but that’s another discussion). Pinterest and Tumblr are both two mediums that actually work much better on my iphone than on my desktop, and it allows me to collect and keep coming back to useless things that inspire me in some sort of way. One of my best ways to kill time in other words.

Pinterest for e-commerce sites

Never underestimate the power of inspiring imagery. Pinterest have been booming the past couple of years and is now the third most popular networking site world-wide. Needless to say – it is already having huge impact on the e-commerce industry if you use is a great (and simple) tool to increase site traffic, strengthening SEO on and off-site and boost online sales. It’s all about visualizing the product your selling.

The simple how-to’s to use Pinterest for e-commerce sites:

1. Set up a Pinterest business account and verify it
2. Add the Pin It-button and widgets on your site
3. Name all your boards, pins and images to correspond with product names and relevant keywords – go through your analytics to find relevant long-tail phrases. Don’t forget to use hashtags.
4. Use high-quality images.
5. Make sure the images have relevant alt-tags (including your brand, product name and/or product category) and of course a good landing-page. If you upload images through Pinterest – name them properly.

I will elaborate on how to build a Pinterest strategy and followers further on.
